January 26, 2024, Journal: Guitar Jamming with a Friend

I jammed with a friend today and did a whole lot more on my website.

Tom G. Visits to Jam with his Harmony Opus Guitar

Now that I play guitar, Tom likes to visit every couple of weeks and play guitar with me. He calls my slightly improved 10 x 20 basement room “Rich’s Guitar Heaven”. It ain’t great, but it’s warm and fun.

Tom brought his Harmony Opus Guitar that was probably made around 1975. I believe he bought it around that time. It’s a dreadnought and still plays nicely with new strings. Also, Tom has been playing off and on for 60 years. I’ve only played almost 4 months.

Tom and I played “Me and Bobby McGee” (Joplin), “Stand by Me” (Ben E. King), and “Country Roads” (John Denver). That’s the music he brought over and I could hang with him (barely keep up). But it was fun as we stumbled along and sang a bit.

Beginner Guitars and Advanced Guitarists

Tom’s better than me at playing guitar. Doesn’t matter 🙂 Jamming is its own reward. But it’s instructive.

Tom doesn’t need to look at chord shapes with his left hand and he can also strum a bit. I on the other hand need to look at my left hand chord shapes.

Tom’s Advice: Experiment practicing without looking at your left hand. Basically begin to play blindfold. It makes sense. I think it’s one more progression in becoming a Kaizen (better) Guitarist.

I am enrolled at the Old Town School of Folk Music where they encourage group jams. So I am delighted to do that at the school and with my friend Tom in my basement.

WordPress, InMotion Hosting, and www.KaizenGuitarist.com

This has taken several days but that’s normal in the website world. Finally after about 6 hours of website technical work and the good help of my new website host InMotion Hosting, I now have WordPress installed on KaizenGuitarist .

I am grateful to their technical help desk for “chatting” with me and building a WordPress gateway so I can blog. I know how to blog from years ago, I just needed help in getting my website WordPress ready. Thanks guys and gals.

Thank You for Visiting

Thanks for visiting KaizenGuitarist.com today.

Be Kaizen and keep playing that Guitar.
