First you shake hands, you talk a while, listen to each other, and maybe decide to visit with that person again. Choosing an acoustic guitar is a similar process.
It takes a while to choose a new friend. It takes a while to choose your second very good acoustic guitar. – Shoshin Guitarist.
No More Laminate Guitars for Me
Like lots of beginners, I began playing with a laminate guitar. Then I bought another laminate acoustic, probably on Facebook Marketplace. Then I came to learn that a solid spruce top acoustic guitar just sounds better than most laminate guitars. Live and learn I guess.
Meet New People, Meet New Acoustic Guitars, and “Shake Hands”
So for my next acoustic, I am going for SPL: Sound, Playability, and Looks. I will do a blog post on that, maybe even a YouTube video.
Here’s a Video on an Underrated Guitar: Inception GPCE Acoustic Guitar
Bouncing around the Internet I found this video. It doesn’t mean I will buy the guitar in the video, there are many guitars to choose from.
But if I did want this guitar, I would “shake hands” with it first and get to know it.
As I said when buying an acoustic guitar, remember SPL.
- Sound. How does the acoustic sound?
- Playability. How does the acoustic guitar feel in your hand.
- Looks. Yes, it would be nice if the guitar looks good. But “pretty” isn’t enough for an acoustic guitar. It needs great Sound and good Playability first.
Thanks for Visiting Shoshin Guitarist Today.
Yes, I am looking for another acoustic guitar. But this time, I will take my time and be choosy.
Remember.
- Sound is paramount.
- Playability is important.
- Looks is nice, but not critical.
