Average Joe is not Discussing Expensive Fenders and Gibson
He is discussing the electric guitar brands that a beginner guitarist doesn’t know about.
He breaks his gear discussion down into 3rd, 2nd, and 1st level no-name brands. Obviously, Fender and Gibson guitars are above Tier 1.
- Tier 1. EART, Jet and others.
- Tier 2. IYV, Tease, and others.
- Tier 3. GearIt, Glarry, Leo Jaymz and others. Average to below average.
I wish I had seen this type of video early in my beginner guitarist career at the age of 72. But I did OK anyway.
My Jet Guitars and IYV Guitar Made Average Joe’s List
My Jet guitars were on Average Joe’s list in his highest Tier 1.
I own a Jet JS300, Jet JS400 and a Jet JT300. They are delightful. I blame Dave Simpson on YouTube for my early love with Jet guitars.
My IYV electric guitar was on Average Joe’s list in Tier 2
I purchased this in a trade + cash a year ago. It is an IYV ILS-300D that looks awesome and plays with a fast neck. Beautiful in distressed colors.
Recently a guitar friend helped me swap out the humbuckers for humbucker sized P90s (Guitar Madness on eBay).
My “Almost Guitars” Made Average Joe’s List
Joe puts the Tease electric guitars in his Tier 2. Some might disagree that it belongs in Tier 1.
I almost bought a Tease electric last year. It was 90 miles away and I was too slow. I have heard great things about it.
I almost bought a $70 Donner electric. It was a semi-hollow with double humbuckers. I resisted the urge to purchase it. I didn’t want my wife to be unhappy with another guitar purchase 🙁
We do want to keep our spouses and partners happy with our guitar collection 🙂
